Our Facilities - only the best for you and your pet
Our ongoing investment in equipment and staff training has allowed us to acheive the standard of Registered Veterinary Hospital as administered by the Veteirnary Council of Ireland's practice Accreditation Scheme. This is the highest available standard.
We are committed to investing a substantial amount each year to ensure that our equipment remains up to date which in turn allows us to offer the best service we can for you and your pet.
Surgery and anaesthesia. Every day of the week we need to perform surgical procedures on pets. Many of these, such as neuterings, are commonly done and are almost routine. On the other hand some are emergencies and life-saving. However all anaesthesia and surgery carries risk and no surgery or anaesthesia should ever really be considered routine or risk-free. As such it is vital that our equipment and facilities never leave us down when required and all pets undergoing anaesthesia receive the same comprehensive pre-anaesthetic assessment and intra-anaesthetic monitoring no matter how 'routine' the procedure.
To this end we have a dedicated surgical suite supplemented by a comprehensive bank of equipment for maintenance and monitoring of general anaesthesia. All of these are specifically tailored to meet the requirement of modern veterinary anaesthetic protocols and intra-operative sterility and thus also providing an environment where the surgeon can perform to his/her best.
Internal imaging is vital in allowing us to diagnose your pet's condition. Our radiography (x-ray) facility is a very modern digital system - we were one of the first in Ireland to instal such a system. We also have available on site an endoscopy service and can offer referral to a highly experienced veterinary ultrasonographer (Emma Tobin) who can perfom scans on-site when needed. We have the ability to e-mail our radiographs for specialist interpretation when required.
Veterinary dentistry is a very important area but often underestimated when it comes to budgeting for equipment. Our dental facility is the best that we could procure and is only available in a very few practices in Ireland. Essentially what we have available is almost the same as available in a human dentist and we are able to perform most of the procedures that your own dentist would offer to you. We are not however yet able to offer orthodontic procedures such as root canals or crowning but we do have contacts in the UK where we can organise for these to be done if required - please ask.
In house laboratory services are vital for the rapid diagnosis of your pet's ailments in emergency situations. We have on site the ability to perform blood and urine tests required for emergency diagnosis and stabilisation of acutely ill pets. This equipment also suffices for performing pre-anaesthetic screenings for higher risk patients.
However we firmly believe that the blood analysers available to veterinary practices - even the industry leaders such as ours- can never match the accuracy of those available to large dedicated veterinary laboratories and as such we routinely use such a provider for more in depth diagnostic work and ongoing monitoring. All our samples are collected by courier daily and we have a full set of accurate results available by e-mail the following morning with the added bonus of the interpretation and input of an experienced veterinary clinical pathologist when required.
